Welcome to the CFL Studios Halloween Film Festival 2025, the ultimate celebration of horror, thriller, and all things spooky! Hosted at CFL Studios in the heart of Central Florida, our festival brings together filmmakers and audiences for a night of chills, screams, and unforgettable cinema.

Feature Length Film

A film that is longer than 45 minutes but less than 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Short Film

A film that is shorter than 45 minutes.

1 Week Film

A genre, prompt and prop will be given at the start day in October and you will have a week to film and complete the film.

Students receive a submission discount, films shot in part at our studio can submit for free.

1 Week Film

The start date is October 4th. Films will must be submitted on October 11th. Every hour the film is late the film will received a penalty towards awards.

Best Director – Most creative and impactful directing.
Best Cinematography – Outstanding visual storytelling.
Best Screenplay – Most original and well written script.
Best Editing – Most seamless and effective editing.
Best Sound Design – Best use of sound effects, foley, and mixing.
Best Visual Effects – Most impressive use of VFX.
Best Production Design – Strongest sets, props, and overall world-building.
Best Practical Effects – Exceptional character and Halloween styling.
Best Actor – Strongest lead or ensemble acting.

Scariest Film - The film that scared or creeped us out the most.
Best Kill - The film that contains the best/most creative kill.
Audience Favorite - The film that the audience votes as their favorite.
Best Student Film - The best film that is submitted by a student production.

Submitting

1 Week Film

At 9 AM Eastern Standard Time on Saturday October 4th all contestants will meet at our studio Central Florida Studios. There they will pay their submission fee and proceed to the main studio space where at 9:30 AM a event coordinator will deliver the theme, prop and prompt that will be required to be present in the final film.

You will have exactly 1 week to plan, shoot and edit your film and deliver back to the studio in person before 10 AM October 11th. Every hour after 10 am will result in penalties towards the winning film.

Festival Weekend

The location will be held at our studio. Directions and parking information can be found here. There will be free food and drink. You will be given information on when your film will play.
